Dr. Kostas Metaxiotis is Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics of the University of Piraeus and Member of the Decision Support Systems Laboratory. He is member of the Executive Board of Directors of World Capital Institute (WCI) (www.worldcapitalinstitute.org), as well as member of the Executive Board of Organisers of the Knowledge Cities World Summit (KCWS) which is organised on an annual basis.
Dr. Metaxiotis has wide experience in knowledge management, knowledge-based development, artificial intelligence, enterprise information systems, ERPs. He has published 2 books “Intelligent Information Systems and Knowledge Management for Energy: Applications for Decision Support, Usage and Environmental Protection” (2009) and “Knowledge-Based Development for Cities and Societies: Integrated Multi-Level Approaches” (2010), as well as more than 80 scientific papers in various journals and conferences. He is a widely recognised researcher, with more than 280 citations.
Dr. Metaxiotis is Associate Editor (and Editor-in-Chief from 2012) of the International Journal of Knowledge Based Development. He has served as Guest Editor in many journals, including the Journal of Knowledge Management for the Special Issue “Knowledge-Based Development 2010”. Since 1996 he has been participating in various European Commission (EC)-funded projects within Tacis, Phare, MEDA and IST Programmes as Senior ICT Consultant and Manager. Since 2007 he has been serving as External Evaluator of EC-funded ICT projects in Balkans.
